Pack Men’s Golf ready to tee off for the first time in 2016-17

PUEBLO, Colo. (September 4, 2016) For the only time in their fall season, the Colorado State University-Pueblo  men's golf team will compete at home when they host the Third Annual Farmer's Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational at the Walking Stick Golf Course Monday Sept. 5 at 8:30 a.m. and continuing Tuesday Sept.6 with teams teeing off at 8:30 a.m. again.

Senior, Jacob Allenback (Pueblo, Colo.) returns for his senior season after being named First Team All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 2015-16. Allenback shot a school record 65 in the final round of the RMAC Championships. He earned Preseason All-RMAC honors going into this year's campaign after qualifying for a NCAA Regional for the second consecutive season.

Neil Tillman (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) will look to improve on his second place finish at the Farmer's Insurance Sam Proal Invitational in 2015. Tillman shot a -7 under in his three rounds at this event last year. His performance earned him RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors.

Following a 15th place finish at last year's RMAC Championships, Roy Carlsen (Arvada, Colo.) will try to use that momentum entering his sophomore season. Senior, GJ Kuhn (Ayr, Ontario, Canada) and sophomores Taylor Rodriguez (Pueblo, Colo.), and Austin Shanks (Wichita, Kan.) will also compete for a spot in the Pack's five man rotation.

Joining the Pack this year will be Jake Ice (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) who comes to the Pack from Adams State University. In addition to Ice, freshmen Austin Burgess (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Chase Federico (Pueblo, Colo.) 

The Field:

Fort Lewis College, South Dakota School of Mines, Dodge City Community College, Garden City Community College, Lewis University, Minot State University, New Mexico Junior College will compete at the Third Annual Farmer's Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational.

Course & Tournament info:

All eight of these teams will play three rounds of golf. Two rounds will be played Monday with the tournament wrapping up Tuesday at Walking Stick.

The course spans 7,200 yards and par stands at 72. Walking Stick Golf Course holds a rating of 72.0 and it has a slope rating of 134 on blue grass.  Designed by Arthur Hills, ASGCA, the Walking Stick golf course opened in 1991.
