COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (September 8, 2016) – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference announced Thursday that Colorado State University-Pueblo junior Neil Tillman (Arvada, Colo.) had earned the first RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week Award of the 2016-17 season.
For the second consecutive season, Tillman shined at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational at Walking Stick Golf Course. Tillman earned a tie for first place with teammate, Jake Ice (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) after he finished -4 (212) after 54 holes of competition.
Playing at his home course, Tillman carded an even par 72 in his round Monday. Later that day, he bettered his score with a -2 (70). Tillman returned to the course Tuesday and shot another -2 (70) to earn a tie with Ice.
The junior ranked second in the field with 13 birdies over the tournament. He had 34 pars and even scored an eagle.
Tillman's efforts helped the ThunderWolves win the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational. As a team, CSU-Pueblo beat the rest of the eight team field by eight strokes with a combined +2 (866).
For Tillman, this is the second time he received RMAC Golfer of the Week honors. He earned this award following his second place finish a year ago at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational. Over his last two tournaments at Walking Stick Golf Course, Tillman is -11.
Tillman and the rest of the Pack will tee off again Monday when they compete in the Ryan Palmer Foundation Tournament in Amarillo Texas. The event will begin Sept. 12 and continue Tuesday Sept. 13 at the Tascosa Country Club.
