AMARILLO, Texas (September 13, 2016) – Senior Jake Ice (Tucson, Ariz.) continued his impressive start to his Colorado State University-Pueblo career with a fourth place finish at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational. The Pack finished eighth at the tournament.
Following a win at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational in his Pack debut, Ice continued his consistent play at the Tascosa Golf Club. He shot a -3 (213) through 54 holes over two days of competition. Ice carded an even par (72) in his first round. He followed it up with an incredible -4 (68) in the afternoon sessions Monday. Ice wrapped up his tournament with a +1 (73). Although it was his first round in the pluses as a member of the Pack, Ice still earned a top-5 finish with his two-day performance.
Neil Tillman (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) bounced back from a +6 round Monday afternoon with an even par Tuesday. Tillman finished his tournament with a +3 (219). He placed 21st overall after being named Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week honor.
Despite Ice and Tillman's performances the Pack's team ranking slipped from fifth to eighth on day two. GJ Kuhn (Sr., Ayr, Ontario, Canada), and Taylor Rodriguez (So., Pueblo, Colo.) both shot 79s (+7) on Tuesday. Jacob Allenback carded a +5 (77) in his final two rounds.
The Pack will try to reenter the winner's circle at the RMAC North tournament Sept. 19-20. CSU-Pueblo's first RMAC event will be held at the Ravenna Country Club Monday and Tuesday.
