PUEBLO, Colo. (September 15, 2016) – For the second week in a row, a Colorado State University-Pueblo Men's Golf student-athlete earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week honors. The conference announced Thursday that Pack senior Jake Ice (Tucson, Ariz.) received the RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week award.
Ice takes home RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week honors for the first time in his career. He finished -3 (213) to place fourth at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational in Amarillo, Texas.
Following a win at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational in his Pack debut, Ice continued his consistent play at the Tascosa Golf Club. In his first round of the 54 hole tournament, Ice carded an even par (72) Monday morning. He followed it up with an incredible -4 (68) in the afternoon session Monday. Ice wrapped up his tournament with a +1 (73) to finish fourth.
Through his first six rounds of golf with the Pack, Ice's round Tuesday was his only one on the plus side. He's been under par in four of his first six rounds at CSU-Pueblo. He was the only golfer under par during every round of Pack's Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational at Walking Stick Golf Course.
After 108 holes at CSU-Pueblo, Ice stands a combined -7. He has two-top five finishes in his two tournaments as a ThunderWolf.
Ice became the second consecutive CSU-Pueblo athlete to win RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week. Neil Tillman (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) won the first RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week award of the season, narrowly edging Ice for that award. Ice and Tillman shared the victory at CSU-Pueblo's home tournament the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational.
The Pack will tee off in their first official RMAC competition Monday Sept. 19-20. The RMAC North Tournament will be held at the Ravenna Country Club in Denver, Colo.
