LITTLETON, Colo. (September 20, 2016) – Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golfer Neil Tillman (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) continued his strong start to the 2016-17season with a fourth place finish at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's North Tournament. Tillman earned All-Tournament team honors at the Ravenna Country Club with his +7 (220) performance after 54 holes.
As a team, CSU-Pueblo finished in a tie for sixth at their first RMAC tournament of the season. Pack golfers finished a combined +73 (925) after three rounds of golf. The Pack's best round came Monday afternoon when they shot a 303 (+19).
Tillman carded a +3 (74) on the final of competition. This score matched his morning round Monday. Like the Pack, his best round occurred Monday afternoon when he finished +1 (72). Tillman maintained a top-10 place throughout the tournament. He has now placed in the top five in two of his three tournaments in 2016-17, including a win at the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational.
Freshman Austin Burgess (Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned his second top-20 finish of his young Pack career. Burgess placed 18th with a +17 (230). He shot a +8 (79) to rank second among Pack golfers in the tournament. The freshman was one of just nine golfers in the 59 student-athlete to card a round at par or better in the tournament, doing so in his afternoon session Monday.
Reigning RMAC Men's Golfer of the Week, Jake Ice (Sr., Tucson, Ariz.) ranked third among Pack golfers with a combined +20 (233). Ice posted a +6 (77) in his final day of competition.
Seniors Jacob Allenback (Pueblo, Colo.) and GJ Kuhn (Ayr, Ontario, Canada) totaled a +31 and +36 respectively. Allenback's scores counted in both the morning session Monday and Tuesday. Kuhn's +8 (79) counted toward the team's score on Morning afternoon.
The course challenged players as all but one golfer finished five strokes over par. UCCS' Colin Prated bested the rest of the field by 17 strokes, finishing -12 (201).
Pack men's golf will return to the course Monday Sept. 26 when they compete at the Western New Mexico University Fall Intercollegiate. The two-day tournament will be held at the Estrella Golf Course in Goodyear, Ariz.
