Pack Men’s Golf places fifth at WNMU Fall Collegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. (September 27, 2016) –  In their fourth tournament of the fall, Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf finished fifth at the WNMU Fall Intercollegiate. The Pack collectively shot a combined 895 (+31) through 54 holes at the Estrella Golf Club.

Junior Neil Tillman (Arvada, Colo.) continues to play at a high level. He earned his third top 10 finish of the season after carding an even par (72) on Tuesday. Tillman finished the tournament in sixth place. He shot a +3 total of 219.

Tillman hovered around par for most of the tournament. He shot 72s on both Monday and Tuesday morning sessions. He finished +3 (75) in his afternoon round Monday. Tillman ranked third out of the 107 student-athlete field with an even par total on par four holes.

Senior Jake Ice (Tucson, Ariz.) played the Pack's best round of the tournament Tuesday . Beginning his day in 44th place, Ice shot a -2 (70) to end his tournament on a high note. He jumped to 26 spots to 18th place with a +7 (223). Ice finished -4 on par five holes.

Taylor Rodriguez (So., Pueblo, Colo.) matched his three-round best with a 226. He also posted a career-best +10 through his three rounds. He finished +6 (78) on his final round at Estrella Golf Club.

Senior Jacob Allenback (Pueblo, Colo.) played his best round of the season with a +15 (231). The WNMU Fall Intercollegiate marks the first tournament of the season where Allneback managed to stay in the 70s in all three rounds with 78s (+6) in each of the morning sessions and a 75 (+3) on Monday afternoon.

As a team, the Pack played very well on par fours. The Pack finished +26 on par fours, with a 4.26 stroke average. This average ranked second-best amongst the 20 teams in the field.

With their fifth place finish, the Pack bested the five other Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schools in the 20 team field. The Pack has posted two top 5 finishes in its 2016-17 season. They won their home tournament, the Farmers Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational, Sept. 6.

The ThunderWolves will complete their fall season Oct. 11-12 at the RMAC West Tournament. This event will be held at the Tierra Rado Golf Course in Grand Junction, Colo.
