GOODYEAR, Ariz. (April 4, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf team finished tied for ninth at the Western New Mexico University Mustang Intercollegiate following the final round Tuesday at the Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Arizona.
The ThunderWolves slipped three spots from sixth after 36 holes Monday. The Pack shot 282-298-293--873 for a team score of +9. CSU-Pueblo tied with Colorado Christian University and finished tied for third among Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams.
Senior Jacob Allenback (Pueblo, Colo.) continued his steady play through the tournament with a 71 Tuesday. He knocked off a stroke each round for a 73-72-71--216 to play even for the 54 holes and finish tied for 22nd. He finished with 42 pars, the second most in the field of 104 golfers.
Senior Jake Ice (Tucson, Ariz.) also totaled an even par 216 (69-72-75) to finish tied for 22nd. He led the team with 13 birdies in the tournament.
Junior Neil Tillman (Arvada, Colo.) finished tied for 46th after shooting a 79 Tuesday. He was five over for the tournament, as he posted a 67-75-79--221. He played the Par 5's a team-best six-under-par.
Sophomore Roy Carlsen (Arvada, Colo.) came back after a round two 81 and carded a 71 today to contribute to the team score. He finished tied for 75th with an 11-over 75-81-71--227.
Next, the ThunderWolves will co-host the Southwest Kansas Shootout at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City, Kansas April 10-11.
