PUEBLO, Colo. (April 8, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf is set to host the Southern Colorado Masters, April 9-10 at the Pueblo Country Club in Pueblo, Colorado. The 54-hole tournament will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.
Eight programs will visit the Steel City, including Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foes Colorado Christian, Colorado Mesa University, Colorado School of Mines and South Dakota School of Mines. Also joining the field are Bethany College (Kansas) and Fort Hays State University, while University of Colorado has sent individuals. The teams will play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday beginning at 9 a.m. both days. The course will play as a par 71 and 6,522 yards.

The ThunderWolves were ranked No. 8 in the first edition of the NCAA South Central Region Rankings, released Friday. The top 10 teams from each region advance to the region tournament. CSU-Pueblo ranks No. 55 in NCAA Division II according to Golfstat.com.
The Pack are coming off an eighth place finish at the Mustang Intercollegiate in Arizona. CSU-Pueblo shot six-under for the tournament.
Junior Fraser Hughes (Newton Stewart, Scotland) shot a steady 71-68-68--207 to complete the tournament nine-under and tied for sixth. The junior committed just four bogeys in 54 holes with only one occurring in the second and third rounds. He totaled nine birdies and carded the only two eagles for the team.
Three players finished with a +1 217 to tie for 37th. Playing in the No. 1 slot, senior Neil Tillman (Arvada, Colo.) went 71-72-74 and led the team with 12 birdies. Junior Roy Carlsen (Arvada, Colo.) shot 70-77-70 and played the Par 3's better than the rest of the team, as he finish one-over. His 37 pars was the second most on the team. Finally, freshman Sam Barthram (Weybridge, Surrey, UK) was the team's top golfer in round one with a 69 (-3), then finished with a pair of 74's. He gathered 10 birdies to rank second on the team.
The Pack will run with the same lineup for the Southern Colorado Masters and add four individuals to the field.
This season, Hughes owns a 72.3 scoring average to rank No. 41 in NCAA Division II. Tillman's 72.5 average stands No. 53.
