PUEBLO, Colo. (April 21, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's golf team heads to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament April 22-24 at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona. The course will play 6737 yards and as a par 71. There will be three rounds with 18 holes played each day for the 54-hole tournament.
The ThunderWolves rank No. 55 in the GolfStat NCAA Division II team rankings. The Pack were eighth in the April 20 South Central regional rankings. CSU-Pueblo won their own Southern Colorado Masters April 9-10 after shooting 13-under and winning by eight strokes. The win marked the third win of the season for the Pack. The starting five for the ThunderWolves will be Neil Tillman (Sr., Arvada, Colo.), Fraser Hughes (Jr., Newton Stewart, Scotland), Nathan McCann (Fr., Lurgan, Armagh, Ireland), Roy Carlsen (Jr., Arvada, Colo.) and Sam Barthram (Fr., Weybridge, Surrey, UK).
McCann shot a 66 on the final day (69-69-66--204) of the Southern Colorado Masters at Pueblo Country Club to win the individual championship by four strokes after finishing nine-under. Hughes closed the tournament two-under and tied for fifth after recording scores of 72-69-70--211. Tillman continued his consistent play with a 71-70-72--213, which was good for even-par at PCC and tied for 10th.
Hughes ranks 34th in Divsion II with a 72.04 stoke average, while Tillman's 72.33 stroke average ranks 47th. McCann owns a 72.88 stroke average as a freshman to rank 74th nationally.
Last season the ThunderWolves finished fourth at the conference championships at 14-over. Tillman and Carlsen were the only two returning players from last season's RMAC squad. Tillman finished four-over and T-11th.
