Former Pueblo City Champion and U.S. Open Qualifier participant,
Ray Makloski, is in his second year as head men's golf coach
at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Under Makloski's leadership, the ThunderWolves saw success
immediately in 2006-07, finishing third in the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference and third in the Northwest Regionals.
That season, Makloski coached Andrew Hedrick, who won All-American
honors after placing 19th at the NCAA Division II National
Tournament.
Makloski, who played football at Adams State College where he
graduated in 1982, has qualified for 10 Colorado Opens and was the
1993 Southern Colorado Open, 1998 Pueblo City, and 1998 CGA Two-Man
Team champion. He twice was named to the Colorado Cup team and
participated in three USGA Mid-Amateur Tournaments.
As welder by trade, Makloski, who also earned a welding degree from
Trinidad State Junior College in 1978 prior to attending and
playing football at Adams State College. He is the owner and
operator of DeRouen Machine Works, which produces conveyor parts
made of steel.
Makloski, and his wife, Nina, have two children, Jimmy and Rayne.
