The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference has announced that
CSU-Pueblo senior goalkeeper Arturo Moranchel and junior Udobong
Obotette have been named to the all-RMAC men's soccer team.
Moranchel was a second-team selection while Obotette was an
honorable mention selection.
Moranchel had a good season between the pipes, logging four
shutouts, a career high, and boasting a goals against average of
1.77. He was also named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week on Oct.
17 following two shutouts over Colorado Mines and UC-Colorado
Springs. Moranchel was also named RMAC Defensive Player of the Week
on one occasion in 2006.
Obotette flourished in his first season with the ThunderWolves,
tying for the team lead in goals scored with three, and leading the
team in points (seven). He also logged two game-winning goals, the
first in the Pack's first win of the season over St. Mary's Sept.
2, and the second on Oct. 14 in a 1-0 shutout of Colorado
Mines.
The RMAC also named its players and coach of the year, and
CSU-Pueblo players didn't garner any honors. Colorado Mines senior
Craig Thompson won player of the year honors, Metro State keeper
Garrett Sadusky won defensive player of the year, Metro State coach
Ken Parsons won coach of the year, and Regis forward Nathan Kafer
was honored as the freshman of the year.
