CSU-Pueblo men's soccer coach Roy Stanley has announced that the soccer squad has added three new signees to the team's 2009 roster.

The Pack's signees come from all over the West - Kendon Knowles (Smithfield, Utah), a tenacious midfielder, Taylor Frias (Santa Maria, Calif.), a wing midfielder, and one Colorado product, Drew Yocom (Fort Collins, Colo.), a defender.

Knowles, the Pack's first junior college signee of 2009, was a first-team all-conference selection at Iowa Western Community College, the alma-mater of the Pack's departing all-region senior defender, John Christy (Layton, Utah).  Knowles was a two-year starter at IWCC as a midfielder, and he captained the 2008 team that was ranked 14th in the nation in the NJCAA and won the Region XI championship.

"Kendon will bring maturity to our midfield," Stanley said.  "His touch and understanding are great, and he knows what it takes to win."

Frias, a three-time all PAC-7 League selection at Righetti High School in Santa Maria, Calif.  Frias was a three-year starter and led Righetti to the CIF Southern Section playoffs all three years he started.  In 2008, Frias led Righetti to the Division V Semifinal and an undefeated run to the PAC-7 championship.

"Taylor is a very technical and smart left-sided wing midfielder," Stanley said.  "His competitive club environment and style of play will fit in nicely with how we play."

Round out the Pack's latest signees is Yocom, a standout defender and graduate of Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, who helped his club team, the Fort Collins Arsenal Gold, to the 2008 state championship.  Yocom was a first-team all-conference selection at FRHS, and will join current ThunderWolves and Fossil Ridge grads Sean Fitzgerald (RFr., Fort Collins, Colo.) and recent signee Brenden Hughes (Fort Collins, Colo.) on the 2009 roster.

"Drew's a tough defender with a great attitude and work ethic," Stanley said.

The Pack's latest signees runs the Class of 2009 to 10.
