Youth soccer teams invited to Oct. 12 soccer games

The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's and women's soccer teams are inviting all youth soccer teams to attend the ‘Steel and Silver Series' games versus UC-Colorado Springs free of charge.  The women will host the Mountain Lions at noon and the men will start at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, October 12, 2008.

All youth soccer players and coaches are asked to wear their team jersey to receive free admission to the contests.  This includes the Pueblo Rangers, PSSA, La Gente Youth Sports, Pueblo YMCA, and Pueblo West Parks and Recreation leagues. Family and friends who accompany them will be admitted for only $1.00!

The ‘Steel and Silver' Series is an all-sports competition between Colorado State University-Pueblo and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  In each of the nine intercollegiate athletics programs that both schools sponsor - men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, men's golf, women's cross country, softball, volleyball, and women's track and field - the school that earns the most wins in head-to-head competition will be awarded four (4) points.  If the head-to-head competitions are split evenly, each school will be awarded two (2) points.  The school with the best cumulative grade point average among student-athletes in the school's common sports will also be awarded five (5) points.  The school with the most points at the end of the academic year will be awarded the trophy, with the presentation taking place in the home city of the winning school.
