Smith earns RMAC recognition for second straight week
CSU-Pueblo goalkeeper Chris Smith (RSo., Colorado Springs, Colo.) has been named the RMAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week, the RMAC announced Tuesday.
Smith helped the ThunderWolves to a 1-0 victory over 15th-ranked Metro State Friday, the Pack's second victory over the Roadrunners this season and Smith's second shutout in as many games.
Sunday, Smith stretched his shutout streak to 231 minutes, only allowing one goal to Regis.
Over the past four games, Smith has only given up a grand total of two goals, and directed the Pack to a win and a tie over ranked opponents. On Oct. 17, Smith allowed one goal in a tie with third-ranked Fort Lewis.
Smith, earning the second straight RMAC Player of the Week honor, becomes the second player in the RMAC this season to earn back-to-back honors. Metro State's Kellen Johnson, the RMAC's leading goal scorer, earned the offensive honor in back-to-back weeks.
Smith also becomes the fourth RMAC player to have earned a player of the week honor twice this season, joining Johnson and teammate Ryan Vickery, as well as his CSU-Pueblo teammate, Robert Kinsey.
