Martinet selected to ESPN/CoSida all-academic team

CSU-Pueblo senior Trevor Martinet (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) was selected as the top midfielder on the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America all-academic team as an all-district selection, CoSIDA announced Thursday.

Martinet, a four-year starter for the ThunderWolves and a business major, is one of just ten men's soccer players in the country to boast a 4.0 grade-point-average and be selected to one the eight ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA all-academic teams, covering eight geographic districts throughout the United States.  Martinet, the reigning Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference academic player of the year, is the only men's soccer athlete in the Pack's district, District 7, to have a perfect GPA.

In 18 games so far this season, Martinet has scored three goals and recorded four assists for a total of 10 points, fourth most on the ThunderWolves.  In his career, Martinet is ranked 10th all-time in school history in both points and assists.

Martinet's recognition on the all-district all-academic team allows him to be nomimated as an academic all-American.  All-American selections will be released in November.

Martinet is the first CSU-Pueblo men's soccer player to receive the all-district academic honor, and would be the first men's soccer academic all-American, as well, if he were to receive that honor.  If Martinet gains academic all-American honors, he would become the first ThunderWolf in any sport since 2003 to receive the honor.
