Pack shuts out Adams State
CSU-Pueblo 4, Adams State 0
PUEBLO, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo gave the Adams State men's soccer team, in its first season a competition, a rude welcome to Pueblo Friday, shutting out the Grizzlies 4-0 at the Rawlings Soccer Complex.
The Pack mounted a 3-0 lead in the first half on a trio of unassisted goals. Senior midfielder Dylan Cook (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.) shed first blood four minutes into the match, followed by first half goals by forwards Corey Cullen (Jr., Fort Collins, Colo.) and Robert Kinsey (So., Denver, Colo.).
Meanwhile, the Pack defense was impregnable. Only one shot on goal made its way to keeper Chris Smith (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), who combined with Jacob Blum (So., Peoria, Ariz.) on a combined shutout. Overall, the Grizzlies managed just two shots on the ThunderWolves, one shy of an all-time record low for a CSU-Pueblo opponent.
Sean Fitzgerald (RSo., Fort Collins, Colo.) netted his first career-goal on a feed by Nate Garcia (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.) in the second half, finalizing the 4-0 win.
The Pack will continue its weekend with a trip to Newman (Kan.) in a rare home-away weekend, taking on the Jets Sunday afternoon.
