Pack Men drop one on road at #16 Mines

No. 16 Colorado Mines 4, CSU-Pueblo 2

The CSU-Pueblo Men's Soccer team couldn't overcome the tough physical play of the #16 Colorado Mines, losing 4-2 in Golden, Colo. on Sunday.

The Pack fell behind early on a foul that resulted in a penalty kick for Mines in the 11th minute, giving them the lead, luckily it would not stay that way for long.  The Pack then got on the scoreboard in the 17th minute when Corey Cullen (So., Fort Collins, Colo.) served the ball a short distance inside toErik Andersen (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) tying the game at one apiece early on.

"The opportunities were there, I feel we played very well in the first half in staying right with them," said head coach Roy Stanley.

A goal right before halftime gave the home team Mines the lead 2-1.

The second half started out just how the T-Wolves wanted, when in the 48th minute Andersen scored for his 10th goal of the year on a beautiful feed by Robert Kinsey (rSo., Denver, Colo.) to knot the game at two. The game then went sour on the Pack when Colorado Mines connected with a goal shortly after, giving the home team the lead in which they would not surrender.

The Pack will return home for their final homestand of the season when they play host to Mesa State and Fort Lewis on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
