PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - Sept. 21, 2010) - After a 2-1 week last week, CSU-Pueblo re-entered the NSCAA Central Region Rankings this week, the NSCAA announced.
CSU-Pueblo became the only team with a losing record to be in the rankings, which includes the top six teams in the Central Region, most of which are Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference teams. After earning shutout wins over Montana-State Billings and Adams State last week, CSU-Pueblo, at 2-4 this year, was forgiven after losing to two ranked teams (#23 Cal. St.-San Bernardino, #3 Midwestern State) and the defending national champion, Fort Lewis.
CSU-Pueblo was last ranked in the region's top six on Oct. 6, 2009, when it was 6-5 en route to a 9-11 finish to the season.
The regional rankings help determine which teams qualify for the NCAA Division II National Tournament. Only the top two teams from the Central Region earn an invite to the national tournament, with the RMAC Tournament Championship becoming a play-in game for nationals. The ThunderWolves have never qualified for the national tournament.
CSU-Pueblo has a heavy week in front of it, first having a "Steel and Silver Series" battle at UC-Colorado Springs Wednesday before returning home to host Regis on Sunday afternoon.
