ThunderWolves add third U.S. Development Academy product to roster
Colorado Rush member Matt Marchena signs with the Pack.
PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - April 2, 2012) - CSU-Pueblo's men's soccer team has added U.S. Development Academy member, Matt Marchena (Fr., Littleton, Colo.), to its 2012 roster, head coach Roy Stanley announced.
Marchena comes to the ThunderWolves after spending time as a member of the Colorado Rush U.S. Development Academy team, which he currently leads in goals scored.
Last fall, capping off his high school career at Columbine High School in Littleton, Marchena scored 21 goals along with nine assists, netting him all-state honors from The Denver Post and ESPN High School Soccer.
"Every time I've seen Matt play, he has been a pleasure to watch," Stanley said. "Matt will provide our team and fans with some entertaining monents. He's a creative, skillful and knowledgable passer and finisher who can also finish with his head."
"We are very excited to have signed a player of his caliber and can't wait to get him on the field."
Marchena joins former Development Academy teammates Jonny Sawyer (So., Aurora, Colo.), who was an all-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection as a freshman, and recent ThunderWolf signee, Jack Gonzales (Fr., Aurora, Colo.).
