WICHITA FALLS, Texas (GoThunderWolves.com - Sep. 9, 2012) - Starting the season with four consecutive road games can be taxing for a team. The back end of the road swing ended for the CSU-Pueblo men's soccer team Sunday with a 3-1 loss to No. 16 Midwestern State.
The Mustangs jumped on the Pack early scoring the opening goal at 7:21. The goal was scored by Andrew Power with an assist to Aaron Douthit.
The deficit would be stretched to two at 14:44 when Douthit added his first goal of the year on an assist from David Freeland.
Even though the Pack was down by two they fought back in the second half to score a goal on a header from Jon-Michael Krasovic (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.). Krasovic received the ball on a cross from Matt Marchena (Fr., Denver, Colo.).
Midwestern State would add a late goal at 88:59 from Griff Stratford as insurance.
"We're a lot closer to the top level teams than we've ever been," coach Roy Stanley said. "We walk away from the game with our heads held high."
Patrick Markis (Sr., Tempe, Ariz.) finished the game with four saves in the loss.
The Pack return home Friday when they open up the conference schedule against one of the conferences toughest opponents in Colorado Mines. The kick off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Rawlings Soccer Complex.
