ThunderWolves snag overtime win at Fort Lewis

DURANGO, Colo. (October 7, 2016) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer team snapped a three-game slide Friday defeating Fort Lewis College 2-1 in overtime on a goal in the 91' from Miles Sanchez (Fr., Bothell, Wash.) at Dirks Field in Durango, Colo.

With the win the Pack improves to 4-7 overall and 2-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

CSU-Pueblo battled FLC to a scoreless tie through the first half. The Skyhawks held a 10-4 shots lead and 3-1 corner kick advantage.

Mackenzie Paquette (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Pack in the first half, firing off two shots in the opening period, one of the shots was on goal.

In the second half, the ThunderWolves intensity level increased as CSU-Pueblo managed three shots in the first five minutes of the half.

CSU-Pueblo outshot Fort Lewis 9-3 in the half and earned eight corner kicks to the Skyhawks one in the second half.

Dycus Kelly (So., Laramie, Wyo.) led all players with four shots in the contest.

Pack goalkeeper Erich Frey (R-So., Colorado Springs, Colo.) made two saves in facing thirteen shots from FLC.

Playing scoreless through regulation, Sanchez and Co. wasted little time in attacking the goal as the Pack quickly gained control in FLC territory.

Lorenz Delaney (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) fed a ball into the box, high above the defense allowing Sanchez to come across the top and head in the game winner inside the left post.

It is Sanchez team leading fifth goal scored this season.

CSU-Pueblo remains on the road Sunday when they travel to take on Adams State at 1 p.m. in Alamosa, Colorado.
