COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (October 11, 2016) - Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer player Lucas Rodriguez (Jr., Bogota, Colombia) earned Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week after guiding CSU-Pueblo to two wins on the road at Fort Lewis and Adams State over the weekend.
Rodriguez and Co. defeated Fort Lewis 1-0 Friday and followed it up Sunday with another 1-0 victory at Adams State. Rodriguez helped lead the two shutouts and held the opposition to nine shots on goal.
Against FLC the Pack limited the Skyhawks to thirteen shots in the contest and to four corner kicks. Sunday Rodriguez netted his first goal of the year in the second half against Adams State. The Colombia-native fired off two shots, connecting in the 79'. The Pack held the Grizzlies to eight shots in each period and five corner kick attempts.
It is Rodriguez's second player of the week honor of his Pack career. He earned Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 30, 2014.
CSU-Pueblo (5-7, 3-5 RMAC) concludes the home portion of the schedule this week when they welcome No. 21 Colorado Mesa and Westminster College to the Art & Lorraine Gonzales Soccer Stadium. The weekend includes Parent's/Family festivities and Senior Day celebration Sunday versus Westminster.
