LAKEWOOD, Colo. (October 30, 2016) - Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer defender Aaron Strunk (Sr., Springfield, Mo.) had a career day Sunday, the final day of the regular season, scoring two second half goals in guiding CSU-Pueblo in a 3-2 win at Colorado Christian.
Playing to a scoreless tie through the first half which saw the Pack creating numerous chances at the net led by Miles Sanchez (Fr., Bothell, Wash.) and his five first half shots. As a team the Pack outshot the Cougars 12-3 in the first period.
CSU-Pueblo earned a 7-0 corner kick lead through forty-five minutes.
In the second half both teams came out of the locker rooms active with three goals being scored in a three-minute period.
CCU broke the scoreless affair in the 54' but the Pack quickly responded when Strunk converted his first shot on a penalty kick awarded to the Pack in the 55'.
Following the score the ThunderWolves took the lead after gaining possession deep in Cougars territory setting up Jose Batista (R-Fr., Grand Prairie, Tex.) to connect his third score of the year thirty-seconds after the first Pack goal.
The home team netted the equalizer in the 75' on a header goal.
Playing until the final buzzer, CSU-Pueblo's Trevor Hardacker (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) fed a pass inside the box with less than :30 showing on the clock in to a trailing Strunk who nubbed in a one-timer past the goalkeeper securing the Pack victory.
Strunk ends the season with three goals scored.
Pack goalkeeper Chandler Syrett (Fr., Sandy, Utah) earned the win, making one save in facing eight shots by Colorado Christian.
CSU-Pueblo ends its season with an 8-10 overall record.
