PUEBLO, Colo. (September 29, 2017) - Colorado State University-Pueblo men's soccer wrapped a five-game homestand Friday against University of Colorado Colorado Springs playing to a scoreless 0-0 draw with the Mountain Lions.
In the first half both teams exchanged two shots each with the Pack's best scoring opportunity came late in the period on a header shot by Miles Sanchez (So., Bothell, Wash.).
The teams played a physical game at the pitch as ten yellow cards were issued between the squads.
Through the first period both teams earned two corner kicks.
The second period the ThunderWolves came alive creating numerous chances at the net. CSU-Pueblo's best scoring chances came in the 62nd and 79th minute on a pair of header shot attempts by Protus Babaya (Fr., Elk River, Minn.) and Santiago Tinta (Jr., Quito-Ecuador) that went high above the crossbar.
In the two overtime periods, CSU-Pueblo kept the Mountain Lions on the defense, shooting seven shots in extra time.
Pack goalkeeper Erich Frey (R-Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) made three saves in the game on facing seven shots by UCCS.
The ThunderWolves held a 15-7 shots lead and trailed 11-7 in corners earned.
CSU-Pueblo (1-7-1, 1-3-1 RMAC) goes on the road for two games beginning Sunday at Adams State and at Colorado Mesa (Oct. 6).
