Pack wins important showdown with Mesa State

CSU-Pueblo 5, Mesa State 4

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - In what could be a preview of the RMAC Championship, CSU-Pueblo edged Mesa State five matches to four at Grand Junction Saturday.

Despite falling in both the number-one singles and doubles matches, the Pack's depth led the day, as it won five of seven lower-seeded matches.

Andres Morales (Jr., Puebla, Mexico) and Anthony Breitenbach (Fr., Tigard, Ore.) both won two matches Saturday.  Morales won his singles match in the four-hole over Kevin Nydam and joined with number-one singles player Philipp Pentkatzki (Sr., Bottrop, Germany) to win the number-two doubles match over Rashad Khanis and Niko Carrizo.

Breitenbach earned a singles win over William Kellar in the No. 6 singles match and earned the win in the number-three doubles match with Finn Guenther (Sr., Main, Germany).

CSU-Pueblo will take on Colorado College in a non-conference matchup on Mar. 31 before returning to conference play with an Apr. 3 showdown with Mesa State and Western New Mexico.
