Pack falls short of Sweet 16

Metro State 5, CSU-Pueblo 0

DENVER, Colo. - In a game that would have sent the ThunderWolves to the NCAA Division II Sweet 16 in Florida, CSU-Pueblo fell to Metro State 5-0 in one of two Central Region preliminary championships.

The preliminary round host, Metro State swept the doubles matches in a first-to-five format.  Needing to win at least a number-one doubles match to challenge Metro State, the slim 8-6 loss by Beau Fresquez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Ricardo Oaxaca (Jr., Puebla, Mexico) to Metro's Sascha Ruckelshausen and Scott Bradley put the writing on the wall for the Pack.

But CSU-Pueblo's NCAA Division II regional win over Mesa State on Thursday marked the Pack's first since 2004.  CSU-Pueblo has never advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II national tournament.
