Oaxaca, Fresquez fall just short of regional title

KEARNEY, Neb. - In a tightly contested match, the Pack's doubles combo of Ricardo Oaxaca (Jr., Puebla, Mexico) and Beau Fresquez (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) came just a few scant points away from a regional title and a berth in the National Small College Championships, part of yet another exciting day for the Pack men at the ITA North Central Regional.

Taking on Mesa State's Jordan Chomko and Nick Provenza, Oaxaca and Fresquez were just within reach, only losing 8-6.

Individually, Oaxaca and Fresquez also played some of the best tennis in the field, earning berths in the singles semifinals, though both lost their semifinal match.  It took extra sets to dispose of Oaxaca, as Metro State's Scott Bradley took a slim win, 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.

Also putting in strong performances was the doubles combo of Anthony Breitenbach (Fr., Tigard, Ore.) and Philipp Penkatzki (Sr., Bottrop, Germany), who made the most of their tourney after being relegated to consolation bracket, earning the consolation championship by defeating Metro State's Carlton Campbell and Sean Carlton.
