Fresquez and Oaxaca voted Athletes of the Week



CSU-Pueblo's number-one doubles combo of Beau Fresquez and Ricardo Oaxaca showed fans this weekend that the glory days of ThunderWolf tennis are not a distant memory, getting to the brink of a national berth in the ITA Small College Championships with a second place showing at the ITA Regionals in Kearney, Neb. - and earning the support of fans by being voted the CSU-Pueblo/Convergys Athletes of the Week.

Fresquez and Oaxaca zoomed through the brackets at the ITAs, winning their first three matches before falling in the regional doubles final.

Individually, both also made it to the ITA regional singles semifinals.

Thanks largely to their efforts, the ThunderWolves boasted the most representatives of any school in the semifinals of the ITAs.

The Final Vote:

Dylan Cook, Men's Soccer, Scored two goals over two games last weekend (170) 31%

Chrissy Mandarich, Women's Soccer, Shut out CCU, extended scoreless streak to 254 minutes (115) 21%

Jerry McWilliams, Football, Recorded 8 tackles in loss to Kearney (56) 10%

Ricardo Oaxaca/Beau Fresquez, Men's Tennis, Was the runner-up regional championship doubles combo at ITAs in Nebraska (204) 37%
