Oaxaca gets as far as quarterfinals in ITA's
KEARNEY, Neb. - CSU-Pueblo's top singles player, Ricardo Oaxaca, put up the best showing this weekend at the ITA Regionals in Kearney, Neb., making it to the quarterfinals in the 64-member tournament.
Oaxaca won two matches, including a win over Mesa State's Rashad Khamis, before falling to Metro State's Scott Bradley.
Oaxaca was one of the brightest spots in an otherwise down tournament for the Pack players, as only Dakota Stupar (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) and the doubles combo of Oaxaca and Tommy Chavez (Fr., Pueblo, Colo.) were able to gain any wins. Stupar's came in the consolation round in the singles bracket while Oaxaca and Chavez earned one doubles win before finishing out of the running.
The ThunderWolves will adjourn for the fall before picking up their season once again in February.
