Hurtado picks up a win at major tournament

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-(GoThunderWolves.com- Oct. 11,2011)-  Playing in a tournament as rich in tradition as the event is named after, CSU-Pueblo's men's tennis team took their games to the Balloon Classic being held in Albuquerque, N.M. to face Division I foes.

All of the ThunderWolves faced tough competition in the first round and received no pity.  Unable to secure a win, the Pack entered into Consolation play.

Picking up the ThunderWolves only victory was Bruno Hurtado (Jr., Mexico City, Mexico).  His win in the Balloon Classic was over Ali Rizvi, USAF, 7-5,4-6,6-4. Hurtado's run stopped with a  Consolation quarterfinals loss.

Alex Lesiuk (Fr., Winnipeg, Canada) took a shot in his Consolation quaterfinal match but fell short to another competitor from Air Force.

In probably the closest match of the tournament, Tom Chavez (Jr., Pueblo,Colo.) couldn't get the bounce to help him advance.  After winning the first set 6-4, he fell in the next two sets using a tie breaker 6-7, 6-7.

The men's tennis team has finished the fall portion of their schedule and begin preparation for the 2012 spring schedule.
