Pack's Hurtado gets first win for 2012
Albuquerque, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com-February 6, 2011)- CSU-Pueblo's Men's Tennis team continued their southern road trip when they faced RMAC rival Western New Mexico on the University of New Mexcio campus in Albuquerque, N.M.
Wanting to head into the 2012 season with some bragging rights, both teams opened play with a flurry in the doubles matches. Even though the Pack lost all three matches, none where were easy for WNM. The team of Saul Shrom (So., Winnipeg, Canada) and Tommy Chavez (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) fell short 5-8 in the best battle at doubles.
As the singles competition started, the Thunderwolves #1, Bruno Hurtado (Jr., Mexcio City, Mexico) secured his first win and the teams first win for 2012. In his match, Hurtado took on the 8th ranked player in the region and defeated him 7-6, 6-1. In other matches, the Pack competed and pushed the Mustangs but again got topped in the end.
The Pack return to play when they travel to Cameron, Okla. for a three team tournament where they will face host Cameron, Southwest Baptist and East Central Oklahoma starting Friday, March 2, 2012.
