#2 Metro fights off Pack
DENVER, Colo. -(GoThunderWolves.com-March 24, 2012)- It came down to the last doubles match. After battling through six singles and two doubles matches, CSU-Pueblo's Men's Tennis team and the #2 regionally ranked Metro State were tied. In the end, the Pack fell short 4-5, but knew they had almost caught the Roadrunners.
Saul Shrom (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada) earned two big victories for the ThunderWolves. His first came at the #3 singles spot when he defeated the Roadrunner 13th ranked player Adrien Delvaux, 6-3and 6-4. His second came with help from his partner, Alex Lesiuk (Fr., Winnipeg, Canada) at the #1 doubles position. The Canadian duo not only bested Metro 8-2 but also upset the regions #2 ranked team.
Also picking up wins for the Pack was Anthony Brietenbach (Jr., Tigard, Ore.) at #4 singles and Tom Chavez (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.) at the #5 singles slot. Brietenbach's win evened the match when he won 6-3, 6-4. Chavez's victory was hard fought, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 15-13 and pulled the ThunderWolves ahead three games to two.
The Pack continues RMAC action when they travel to play Western New Mexico in Silver City, N.M. on Saturday March 30, 2012.
