Pack holds strong against Division I New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 2, 2013) - CSU-Pueblo faced a tall order Saturday in facing the University of New Mexico, the 63rd-ranked team in NCAA Division I, and despite losing 9-0, put up a fight against the vaunted Lobos.

One goal when playing a Division I team is to not get shut out, and that certainly didn't happen Saturday - in fact, far from it.  CSU-Pueblo, especially at the top of the order, competed very well.

In the one-doubles match, the Pack's top combo of Saul Shrom (Jr., Winnipeg, Canada) and Alex Lesiuk (Sr., Winnipeg, Canada) held well against James Hignett and Riann Du Toit, falling 8-4.

In singles matches, the Pack came closes to a win in the six-singles match, as Shane Nicholls (Fr., Winnipeg, Canada) nearly beat Evan Corona-Saunders while playing in his first collegiate match, losing 6-2, 7-5.

CSU-Pueblo's early start to the season continues Sunday as it takes on RMAC power Western New Mexico on a neutral court.
