PUEBLO, Colo. (March 22, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo men's and women's tennis teams will wrap the 2018 home schedule March 23-24 when the women host three matches and the men host two at Pueblo City Park. The teams invite fans to a the Pack Party in the Park Friday from 11-4 p.m. with music, food, tennis, and more.
Pack Tennis invites the campus and Pueblo community to join them at the Pack Party in the Park tomorrow. Simple Simon's will have pizza, wings, personal calzones, and Pepsi products for sale from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. with 10% of sales going back to Pack Tennis. There will be music, food, tennis, and more. The men's and women's teams will host Midwestern State University Friday at 9 a.m., then the women welcome Angelo State University at 3 p.m. Finally, the ThunderWolves battle Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference foe Colorado Mesa University Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
The men's team ranks No. 45 nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) debut of computerized national team ranking, released Wednesday. The Pack are 9-11 overall with a 1-1 RMAC record this season and owns a 6-4 record at home this season.
Freshman Thomas Pudney (Southend, United Kingdom) ranks No. 14 nationally in singles play according to the ITA poll. He owns an 11-7 record in dual matches with all his bouts coming at No. 1 or No. 2. He is the highest ranked player in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
In doubles play, the combination of Steven Alcala (Sr., Pueblo, Colo.) and Cade Boedeker (Fr., North Richland Hills, Texas) own a record of 10-5 at No. 3. Boedeker has a team-best 11 victories in doubles play.
The women's team is 3-14 overall this season with a 1-1 record in league play. All three wins have come at home, as the ThunderWolves are 3-7 in Pueblo.
Senior Kristin Jensen (Colorado Springs, Colo.) leads the team with five singles victories. She has played at No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles this season. Both Nia Matthews (Jr., Houston, Texas) and Kali Hamilton (Fr., Grapevine, Texas) have four wins at singles and each have two victories at the No. 1 spot.
The pair of Matthews and Hamilton have a 6-10 record in doubles this season with a 4-4 mark at the No. 2 spot. Jensen and Sarah Megilligan (So., Pueblo West, Colo.) are 5-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Saturday will mark the final home match for five Pack seniors. Samantha Cachutt (Caracas, Venezuela), Acacia Dettman (Perris, Calif.) and Jensen for the women and Alcala and David Mould (Upminster Essex, United Kingdom) for the men.
