Pack's summer softball camps announced



SUMMER SOFTBALL CAMPS: Instructional Camp | Elite Varsity Camp

The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball program will hold its Elite Varsity Softball Camp from Aug. 8-9 at the CSU-Pueblo softball complex.

The camp is open to high school-aged girls.

In this two-day mini-camp, campers will learn many of the advanced game concepts used by the Colorado State University-Pueblo women's softball team. Campers will also learn elite athlete mental game strategies and drills to perfect your hitting fundamentals. Camp staff includes members of the CSU-Pueblo Coaching Staff and Softball Team.

"The coaching staff at Colorado State University-Pueblo want to bring a college-style pace of the game to young women who wish to pursue excellence in the game of softball," Pack assistant coach Jennifer Ortiz said.  "This camp will put players in a collegiate atmosphere and will be ran at an NCAA Division II College practice and game pace.  The intensity and hustle will be expected of anyone participating in this two-day event." 

The purpose of this Elite Varsity Camp is to get varsity softball players ready for the high school season with confidence, as well as bring discipline, communication and hustle to the game. 

The camp takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Aug. 8-9.  The cost for the camp is $50 per camper if you pre-register, or $60 on the day of the camp.  Campers need to bring glove, proper shoes, bat, catchers' gear and batting helmet (if you have them), water or sports drink, and a ready-to-learn attitude.

Instructional Camp

The 2008 CSU-Pueblo softball Instructional Camp, designed for girls ages 8-18, will take place from Aug. 2-3 at the CSU-Pueblo softball complex.

In this two-day mini-camp, campers will learn many of the basic fundamentals used by the Colorado State University-Pueblo women's softball team. Camplers will also learn elite athlete mental game strategies and drills to perfect hitting fundamentals. Camp staff includes members of the CSU-Pueblo Coaching Staff and Softball Team.

"Participating in our softball camp is an opportunity to learn specific offensive and defensive-fundamentals and the mental concepts necessary to excel," Pack coach Shane Showalter said. "We will help develop a winning work ethic as well as create a willingess to be coachable and learn from experienced coaches and players. Providing campers with the op-portunity to reach their potential and increase their knowledge of the game is what CSU-Pueblo's instructional camp is about."
