COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - CSU-Pueblo, a regional runner-up last season, was picked to be strong again in 2010 by the RMAC softball coaches, selected to finish 4th in the 12-team RMAC standings, according to the RMAC preseason softball poll released Tuesday.
Kelly Purcell (Sr., Las Vegas, Nev.), a senior second baseman, was also selected as a preseason all-RMAC choice. Purcell was a second-team all-Central region selection last season and a first-team all-RMAC selection after hitting .421 on the year.
CSU-Pueblo was picked to finish one spot behind RMAC Tournament champion, Mesa State, in the West Division. Mesa State relied on a frantic run to close the season and claim the conference title and regional championship over CSU-Pueblo.
Garnering the most votes was Metro State, the 2009 regular season champion. The Pack was also picked to finish behind the predicted East Division runner-up, Regis, which was picked to finish third in the RMAC standings overall.
