Pack emerges 3-1 from weekend action
CSU-Pueblo 6, Nebraska-Kearney 4
Nebraska-Kearney 6, CSU-Pueblo 5
CSU-Pueblo split its two-game series with Nebraska-Kearney Saturday, cruising to a 6-4 win before falling in a 6-5 heartbreaker in the late game.
The ThunderWolves used a 4-for-4 day from Annalyse Garcia (Fr., Frederick, Colo.), including a two-run bomb second inning, to open up an early 5-1 lead and ride it to the 6-4 win. Garcia was a triple shy of the cycle, coming through with two singles, a double and a homer, netting three RBI. Justine Bosio (So., Santa Barbara, Calif.) snagged her RMAC-leading 16th win of the season.
The second game was another story, as a 5-1 ThunderWolf lead withered away with a five-run 7th inning by the Lopers as the ThunderWolves fell to a 6-5 loss. Bo Nuanez (Sr., Lafayette, Colo.) went yard in the loss.
CSU-Pueblo, now at 23-11 overall and 19-9 in RMAC play, emerges from the weekend better than it started, taking over first place in the RMAC West Division, holding a half-game lead over Western New Mexico, which dropped three of four this weekend. The ThunderWolves will conclude its home slate next weekend with a four-game set vs. New Mexico Highlands Saturday and Sunday.
