CSU-Pueblo senior catcher Bo Nuanez (Sr., Lafayette, Colo.) has been recognized as a second-team academic all-district selection by the College Sports Information Directors of American and ESPN The Magazine, CoSIDA announced Thursday.
Nuanez, a pre-med major who carries a 3.50 GPA, also earned second-team Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference honors earlier this season. Additionally, she was honored with the 2010 Jessie Banks Award, the highest honor for CSU-Pueblo female student-athletes.
Nuanez has balanced her stellar performance in the classroom with just as stellar play on softball diamond. She is hitting .323 this season with seven home runs and ranked in the top five in career home runs in CSU-Pueblo history. This season, she also earned her first all-RMAC distinction, earning second-team all-RMAC honors at catcher.
The Academic All-America program, sponsored by CoSIDA and ESPN the Magazine, honors student-athletes from across the country, assembling academic all-district teams covering geographical regions in two collegiate divisions - University (Division I), and College (Division II, Division III, NAIA). CSU-Pueblo's district, District 7, covers a region spanning from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi River.
