ThunderWolves drop two key regional games on late rallies.
ROCHESTER, Minn. (GoThunderWolves.com - Feb. 19, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo lost two games in heartbreaking fashion Saturday, giving up four runs in the 7th inning to fall to St. Cloud State, then losing on a walk-off sacrifice fly to Minnesota State-Mankato at the RMAC/NSIC Crossover.
Leading 4-3, CSU-Pueblo gave up four runs in the top of the 7th inning to St. Cloud State, as the Pack gave up six hits, including three doubles, as the game fell out of their grasp.
In the second game of the day vs. Minnesota State-Mankato, a pitchers' dual came down to late-inning small ball, which saw the Pack on the short end in a 7-5 loss.
With the game knotted at 1-1, CSU-Pueblo, batting in the top half of the 7th, got the bases loaded with two out, but couldn't drive home a run. Minnesota State, however, took advantage of Pack mistakes and moved runners along, using a field error and a long fly ball out to get runners at the corners with one out. A long fly ball to centerfield ended the Pack's day with a 2-1 loss.
CSU-Pueblo will close with two more games tomorrow against Winona State and Concordia-St. Paul, beginning 12 p.m. Central Time.
