Pack doubled up by Metro State

DENVER, Colo. ( - Mar. 12, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo's string of bad luck against Metro State continued Saturday as the Pack dropped two games to the Roadrunners, losing 6-0 and 10-3.

The Pack could only muster three hits in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader, making Metro State's six runs all the harder to overcome.  Only one ball went for extra bases for the ThunderWolves, and it was enough to keep the Pack offense struggling all day long.

In game two, the Pack bats picked up slightly, recording seven hits, with eight-hole hitter Dannielle Oliva (So., Pueblo, Colo.) going an impressive 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI, but the rest of the Pack lineup recorded just four hits in total.

Metro State, meanwhile, despite having just nine hits, plated 10 runs, including three in run shot in a six-run sixth inning.

After the loss, the Pack has now lost 12 of its past 13 meetings with Metro State, dating back to 2008.  The Roadrunners haven't been a slouch, though, having been a Division II College World Series team last season.

The Pack will have two more with the Roadrunners Sunday, beginning play at 11 a.m.
