Lucas earns Academic All-District honor

PUEBLO, Colo. (GoThunderWolves.com - May 6, 2011) - CSU-Pueblo junior centerfielder, Carlie Lucas (Jr., Granada Hills, Calif.), was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All District team, CoSIDA announced Friday.

Lucas, a business major with a 3.91 grade-point-average, led the ThunderWolves in stolen bases this season with 18 and played in each of the Pack's 47 games.  Earlier this week, she was named a first-team Academic All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference selection.

The CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District program honors student athletes at instituations across the nation.  CoSIDA began this program in the 1950's, and since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors. Currently, CoSIDA honors Academic All-Americans in 12 sports.

Student-athletes are nominated by current CoSIDA members. Voting for Academic All-District (First, Second and possible Third Team members are named) is done by current CoSIDA members. Those who obtain First Team All-District status move onto the national Academic All-America ballot; these national awards (First Team, Second Team, Third Team for each sport category) is voted upon by Academic All-America Committee members and current CoSIDA Board of Directors.

To qualify for nomination, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 grade-point-average and have completed at least two semesters prior to their sport's season.
