ThunderWolves open season at Dixie State Classic

PUEBLO, Colo. (February 8, 2017) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team opens the 2017 season competing at the Dixie State Easton Classic beginning Thursday at the Canyons Softball Complex in St. George, Utah.

The Pack battles Central Washington in the season opener at 10 a.m. and finish the day playing against host-Dixie State at 3:30 p.m.

Day two, the ThunderWolves are scheduled back-to-back and face former Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference-foe Western New Mexico at 3 p.m., followed by a tangle versus University of Concordia-Portland.

CSU-Pueblo concludes the classic Saturday at 12:30 p.m. against University of Concordia-Irvine.

CSU-Pueblo returns to the diamond following a 2016 season in which the ThunderWolves earned an eleventh consecutive postseason berth, making it to the finals of the RMAC Tournament.

Seniors Lexie Martindale (Pueblo, Colo.), Moriah Turney (Brighton, Colo.), and Kennedy Smith (Fillmore, Calif.) lead the Pack and will be called upon as veterans of the team.

The ThunderWolves, picked to finish fifth in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, open the home portion of the schedule Feb. 16 versus Colorado Christian in a nonconference doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. at Rawlings Softball Complex.

CSU-Pueblo enters its 24th season as a program and hold a 12-11 record on opening day.
