DENVER, Colo. (March 25, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team was swept in a doubleheader at Regis University falling 6-0 and 1-0 Sunday at Regis Softball Field.
In the opener the Pack was led by Sabrina Felix (So., Corona, Calif.) going 2-for-3 at the plate.
CSU-Pueblo was limited to four hits in the game by Regis pitcher Logan Losh.
K'Lee Kent (Sr., Hobbs, NM) started for the Pack and was tagged with six runs, three earned on six innings of work. She finished with one strikeout and four walks.
Regis scored its runs with two three-run innings in each of the second and fourth frames. In the game CSU-Pueblo left six runners on base.
Freshman Karlee Salas (Pueblo, Colo.) got her first hit in a Pack uniform hitting a single with two outs in the seventh.
In the finale starting pitcher for the Pack Hannah Anderson (So., Spokane, Wash.) pitched herself out of two bases loaded and no-out situations in both the second and third innings to keep the game scoreless through three.
Anderson got her first hit as a member of the Pack with one out in the third.
Marissa Piatt (Fr., San Luis Obispo, Calif.) drew a walk to lead off the fourth inning and stole second to get in scoring position but was left stranded.
Anderson and the Pack defense kept the Rangers silent again in the fifth leaving two runners on base with less than two outs.
In the top of the sixth and one out, Gabby Moreno (So., Scottsdale, Ariz.) drew a walk and stole second base and remained there as Regis pitcher Taylor Armitage kept the ThunderWolves offense quiet.
The home half of the frame Regis' Alicia Martinez hit a two-out double and scored in the next at bat and take a 1-0 lead going to the final inning.
In their last at bat the ThunderWolves put traffic on the base paths and had two runners on base with one out when Anderson lined out to third who doubled up the runner at second to end the game 1-0 in Regis favor.
Anderson takes the loss and drops to 2-11.
CSU-Pueblo (8-21, 7-13 RMAC) returns home Mar. 30-31 and plays UCCS in a four game RMAC series at Rawlings Softball Field. The Steel & Silver series is in play when the Mountain Lions come to Pueblo. First pitch Friday is set for 12 p.m.
