CSU-Pueblo face tall task against No. 3 Colorado Mesa

PUEBLO, Colo. (April 27, 2018) - The Colorado State University-Pueblo softball team hosts No. 3 Colorado Mesa this week for four games to wrap the regular season schedule starting Saturday at noon at Rawlings Softball Complex.

The Pack finished their regular season road games with a series split at Fort Lewis.

Junior Michaela Burpee (Union City, Calif.) led the ThunderWolves and went 7-for-16 (.438) at the plate and hit one homerun, two doubles, and recorded four RBIs and three runs scored.

Burpee leads the team in average this season (.390) and has played in every game this season. Announced earlier in the week, Burpee was named to RMAC All-Academic Honor Roll along with four other Pack players.

The weekend also marks the final home series for seniors K'Lee Kent (Hobbs, NM) and Alyssa Ubrun (Olympia, Wash.). The duo will be honored in a pregame ceremony Sunday.

 

SETTING THE STAGE

CSU-Pueblo was swept in four games at CMU. The No. 3 Mavericks is the highest ranked opponent for the Pack in recent years.

No. 3 Colorado Mesa University Mavericks (39-3, 29-3 RMAC)

            Last time on the field: The Mavericks split a four game against Colorado Christian. CMU is led offensively by Brooke Hodgson with a .528 batting average. In the circle the Mavericks are guided by McKenzie Surface (19-1, 2.23 ERA) and Kimbri Herring (16-1, 1.90 ERA).
