Entering her fifth year as assistant softball coach is Pueblo-native Jen Ortiz.

Among her duties for the Pack are coaching the pitchers and first basemen, as well as assisting in recruiting, field preparation, team organization, scheduling, game execution and strategy, and practice techniques. She also boasts a perfect 2-0 record serving as interim head coach.

Prior to coming to CSU-Pueblo, Ortiz was a pitcher at North Alabama, where she earned her bachelor's degree in business. Before heading to UNA, Ortiz was a member of the Otero Junior College team that captured the NJCAA Region IX Championship in 1999. Ortiz was also named 2000 Region IX Player of the year, and was a First Team All-Region Selection in 1999-2000.

In addition to her assistant coaching duties, Ortiz also serves as the Field Director for the Rawlings Youth Girls Fastpitch Softball League. She also enjoys working with kids, giving lessons and working at three to four camps and clinics each summer.

Ortiz lives in Pueblo.
