COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (April 10, 2017) - Senior Dante Carter (Las Vegas, Nev.) was recognized as the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Male Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week in a Monday announcement from the league office.
Carter earned his second weekly award from the conference this season, as he was named indoor track athlete of the week Feb. 21. He is the third member of the ThunderWolves to earn the award this outdoor season, as juniors Tatianna Clanton (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Ron Sweeten (Falcon, Colo.) were track and field athletes, respectfully, March 20.
Carter owns the second fastest 1500m time in Division II, as he posted an NCAA Division II automatic time in the event at the Colorado Invitational Saturday. The senior finished fourth in the 1500m behind three runners from Colorado, but his time of 3:50.66 was converted to 3:45.16 to sit second nationally and 35th among all NCAA divisions.
The ThunderWolves continue action April 12-15 in California at a couple different venues, including the Bryan Clay Invitational at the Cougar Athletic Stadium in Azusa, California.
