Pack to face top-seed South Dakota in DII tourney

The ThunderWolves have drawn the eighth and lowest seed in the North Central region, pitting them against the one-seed University of South Dakota, the regional host for the NCAA Division II national tournament, the NCAA announced Sunday night.

South Dakota, 28-1, finished as the champion in the North Central Conference, beating North Dakota in the championship game Sunday.

Two years ago, when the ThunderWolves took a similar path to their first ever national tournament appearance, the Pack faced North Dakota.  The Pack lost that game 92-69.

The ThunderWolves earned an automatic bid by taking the RMAC Championship Saturday.  Despite that, two of the teams the ThunderWolves defeated, Fort Lewis and Nebraska-Kearney, each received higher seeds in the regional (number-four and number-five, respectively), and will play one another in the first round of the national tournament.  If the ThunderWolves are able to defeat South Dakota, they will take on the winner of the Fort Lewis/Kearney matchup.
