Pack takes down UCCS 68-52

A strong beginning to the second half helped to negate a poor shooting performance in the first half, setting the stage for the ThunderWolves' 68-52 victory over UC-Colorado Springs Saturday night.

Following a first half in which the ThunderWolves shot just .296 from the field, but still held a 21-19 at halftime, the Pack began with a 8-0 run to begin the second half. From there, UCCS never mounted another credible threat as the Pack held a double-digit most of the second half.

The Pack rebounded on their first half, improving their field goal percentage to a strong .500, bringing them to .407 for the game.

While the Pack improved upon their sloppy first half, the Mountain Lions had no such luck. UCCS, which were still on the short end in the shooting percentage game, only shooting .229 in the first half, showed no improvement in the second half. The Mountain Lions shot only .294 in the second half while the Pack's lead seemed to be ever-expanding.

The Pack keyed on turnovers by the Mountain Lions, benefitting from 28 turnovers and recording 12 steals. Though the Pack by no means played clean basketball, committing 26 turnovers of their own, markedly better shooting in the second half was the difference.

Senior Lindsay Black had a game high 14 points, also recording four blocked shots, four assists, and two steals, all team highs, as well.

Defensively, the Pack was also able to hold all Mountain Lion scorers to single-digits, the first time a ThunderWolf team has accomplished that since the Pack held William Penn to that standard in an 83-49 season-opening win back in 2002.

The win stops the Pack's short-lived two game winning streak and counts as the first conference victory of the season.
