Second half not kind to Pack in 58-42 exhibition loss
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Despite only trailing 29-26 at the break,
turnovers and poor shooting doomed the ThunderWolves' chances in a
58-42 exhibition loss to Colorado State Saturday.
The ThunderWolves looked to fix some holes they targeted in
Thursday's exhibition loss to Denver University, focusing primarily
on heir shooting proficiency from the field and the line.
In the first half, the Pack seemed to be remedying that, as
evidenced by the close game. But all that went away in the second
half.
The ThunderWolves only had a 20 percent shooting percentage in the
second half, and the Rams used that to extend to a 15-point lead
from which the Pack couldn't recover. The ThunderWolves were also
hurt by committing 24 turnovers, which kept their chances of
mounting a comeback very low.
"You can put your finger in one hole, and another pops up," Pack
coach Kip Drown said. "That kind of thing is typical of early
season exhibitions. But we are a good basketball team, we just need
to take care of the ball better and we can get to that point."
The ThunderWolves will continue their exhibition season Wednesday
when they travel to Laramie, Wyo. to take on the University of
Wyoming Cowboys at 7 p.m.
