The hardware keeps accumulating for CSU-Pueblo point guard, Rachel Espinoza (Jr., Pueblo, Colo.), who was named the RMAC West Division Player of the Week for a record fourth time following the Pack's two wins this past weekend.
Espinoza, who averaged 19.5 points per game this weekend in the Pack's wins over Western State and Mesa State, earned her fourth Player of the Week honor this season, a new CSU-Pueblo women's basketball record. In 2004, CSU-Pueblo's all-time leading scorer, Nadia Fercha, earned the award three times.
Espinoza eclipsed the 900-point career scoring mark against Western State in a 58-45 home win. She tallied 16 points, five assists, four steals and three rebounds. The next night in a 65-56 win over Mesa State, she posted 23 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Espinoza netted .667 from the field (14-21) and 9 of 10 from the free throw line while averaging 19.5 points, four rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 steals in both home wins.
Espinoza will lead the Pack on the road this week as CSU-Pueblo takes on its top competition in the West Division, Adams State and Fort Lewis.
